Once we found street tacos at a food truck event, they became a favorite in our household. What makes a taco a “street” taco, is really just the size of the tortilla. They are often made with steak, pork, ground beef, or my favorite, chicken. Because the tacos can be served with SO many different vegetables as toppings, this meal never gets boring. You can change it each time you make it, and the chicken is so full of flavor, it will be a delicious meal each time. Looking for more ideas? You might like this list of Mexican Air Fryer Recipes. You can use either flour or corn tortillas, depending on your preference. Thankfully, a store near me carries packages of twelve flour tortillas in the street taco size, which is about four inches. Another reason this recipe is so easy, is because most of the ingredients you will already have at home. To make these Street Tacos, you will need:

Besides the ingredients to actually make the tacos, you only need whatever additional toppings you are going to put on them after they are done. At a bare minimum, we top them cheese, like Tillamook Cheddar Cheese. But you can have as few or as many toppings, as you like.
How to make Air Fryer Chicken Street Tacos
Before you begin cooking the chicken, you will need to prepare the air fryer basket. To do this, lightly brush the basket with olive oil. You only need a small amount, so don’t overdo it. Once the basket is ready, add the cut pieces of chicken into a medium bowl. I prefer to buy the stir fry chicken because they are already cut into strips, making it easier for the seasonings to coat each piece. In a medium bowl, toss the chicken pieces with the chili powder, salt and pepper. Stir them until the seasonings have coated each piece. Next, you will place them in the prepared basket, and air fry at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes. Turn the chicken over and then continue cooking them for an additional five minutes. I use this Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer to cook the chicken. So if you have a smaller basket, just be sure the pieces aren’t touching while they cook. Once the chicken is done cooking, you can now serve the tacos your own way. The younger kids like the chicken on the tortillas, just with cheddar cheese on the tops. I place those back in the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the tortillas are crispy. The rest of the family prefers them on the soft shells, served with all of our favorite toppings.
What can I serve with street tacos?
Street tacos are so fun, you can serve them anytime. They make for a great party tray, and can be served like a taco bar, with all of the toppings around the tortillas and chicken. Our favorite toppings include, cheddar cheese, chopped onions, sliced avocados, sliced jalapenos, and of course, chopped tomatoes. But that’s really up to you since there is no right or wrong way to eat them.
Do you have to flip chicken in the air fryer?
To make sure the chicken is completely cooked, toss the pieces halfway through the cooking time. Otherwise, one side may not cook thoroughly. MORE AIR FRYER RECIPES:
