If you said no, then we’re in complete agreement. Whether you like bread that’s sweet or savory, it just tastes better when it’s freshly made. This list contains some comfort food favorites – whole wheat, banana bread, and cinnamon rolls. It also has a few less well-known but just as delicious recipes, including milk and honey bread, peanut butter bread, and chocolate chip brioche. In other words, you’ll probably find a few old favorites here, and hopefully, you’ll find some new ones, as well.
1. Bread Machine White Bread
It may not be the most unique bread on the list, but it is one of the most practical. The ingredients are simple – milk, butter, flour, sugar, salt, and bread machine yeast. It takes nearly 3 hours to make, but its soft, fluffy, and moist texture and rich, buttery flavor far exceed anything you can buy off the shelf.
2. Whole Wheat Bread
I know it’s not everyone’s favorite, but I love whole wheat bread. It has the soft, fluffy texture of white bread, but the taste is bolder and more earthy. I love to cut thick slices and eat them with tomato or broccoli cheddar soup in the colder months of the year.
3. Bread Machine Pound Cake
If you enjoy the sweet sponginess of pound cake, you’ll love this recipe. It’s so easy to make! Simply add the ingredients into your bread machine, pick your preferred crust, and select the “cake” setting. You’ll enjoy a yummy pound cake in no time. I like to top mine with whipped cream and sweetened strawberries. Yum.
4. Bread Machine Chocolate Cake
Bread machines aren’t just for bread anymore. If you’ve never used your machine to make cake, you should start with this incredible vegan chocolate cake recipe. You can also make it in the oven, but the bread maker gives it a fluffier, more airy consistency that I just adore. If you don’t strictly adhere to a vegan diet, check out the included recipe for chocolate ganache frosting. It’s decadent, but it tastes so good, you won’t feel guilty.
5. Bread Machine Multigrain Bread
If you enjoy more flavorful bread, give this multigrain bread recipe a try. You’ll make it with various grains, which gives it a unique, wonderful taste, and it’s full of fiber, which is always great. It makes excellent toast and will add its own individual flavor to any sandwiches you make.
6. Bread Machine Milk and Honey Bread
Containing a cup of milk, three tablespoons of honey, and three tablespoons of melted butter, this bread has a delightfully sweet flavor that makes it a fast favorite of most people who try it. You can also adjust the settings on your bread machine to make sweet, buttery dinner rolls using the same recipe. Bonus: It smells phenomenal while cooking.
7. Lemon Cake Bread
Whether you cook it entirely in your bread machine or start it there and finish it in the oven, lemon cake bread is zesty, sweet, and dense enough to fill you up quickly. You’ll also enjoy the lovely golden brown color and the crispy edges.
8. Bread Machine Banana Bread
Since the first time I had it standing in my grandmother’s kitchen, banana bread has been one of my favorite homemade breads. Without a bread machine, though, it takes a bit of work. The bread machine simplifies the whole process. All you’ll have to do is beat the eggs, melt the butter, and smoosh the bananas. The bread machine does the rest. If you want to make it extra sweet, add some chocolate chips after the first mixing cycle.
9. Bread Machine Sweet Potato Bread
Eating this bread is like eating sweet potato casserole in bread form. It’s delicious. I add a little more cinnamon than the recipe requires, but I like a strong cinnamon flavor. The bread’s texture is unique; it’s not like typical bread, but it’s hard to describe. Suffice it to say, it’s perfect. You can also use the recipe to make dinner rolls instead of a loaf.
10. Bread Machine Garlic Bread
If you think the smell of baking bread is wonderful, wait until you add four cloves of garlic to it. Your mouth will water and your tummy will growl because this bread smells terrific. Make this recipe once, and you’ll never want frozen Texas toast again. It goes great with spaghetti, lasagna, and all your other Italian favorites.
11. Pretzel Bites
I never considered making pretzel bites in my bread machine until I found this recipe. Now they’re a regular appetizer in my house. Their salty, buttery flavor tastes just like the pretzels you’d buy from a mall stand, and they’re even better when dipped in melted cheese.
12. Bread Machine Cornbread
If you like your cornbread slightly sweet, supremely buttery, and more soft than crumbly, don’t pass up this cornbread recipe. Also known as “northern cornbread,” this cornbread works well as a breakfast bread, or you can serve it as an after-dinner dessert.
13. Raspberry Jam
You may think I stuck this on the wrong list, but no, this recipe for raspberry jam is right where it’s supposed to be. It’s a little-known fact, but many bread machines have a jam setting! If your bread machine does, you can make the tastiest, sweetest raspberry jam using only four ingredients. Simply add your mashed raspberries, sugar, lemon juice, and pectin to your bread machine. Choose the “jam” setting, and let it cook for about 80 minutes. Then you’ll just pour it into jars and seal them. It’s the easiest, most convenient way to make jam.
14. Bread Machine Chocolate Chip Bread
Chocolate chip bread is like chocolate chip cookies turned up to 11! It’s soft and yummy, and it makes a nice addition to any breakfast or brunch spread. It’s also the perfect bread for sweet sandwiches like PB&Js.
15. Bread Machine Pizza Dough
You can make high-quality pizza dough with ease using your bread machine and flour, sugar, yeast, butter, salt, and water. The bread machine makes a crust that’s fluffy and soft, but you can press and mold it into the shape you want once it’s done. If you want it a little crispier, coat it in olive oil before baking it with the toppings.
16. Peanut Butter Bread
Peanut butter bread is the ideal option if you’re looking for a warm, sweet treat. With or without the added peanut butter glaze, it tastes splendid any time of day. You can serve it by itself, toasted, drizzled in the sweet, sticky glaze, or covered with cream cheese, jam, or jelly.
17. Bread Machine Calzone
This dough is herby and features the bold flavor of Italian seasoning. You’ll use your bread machine to make the dough. Once it’s done, you can fill it with the cheese, sausage, and any other yummy calzone fillings you like.
18. Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls, but I know plenty of people who never make them because they can be a pain. However, if you have a bread machine, much less work is involved because the machine does all the hard work for you. All you’ll have to do is roll them, glaze them, and bake them a final time.
19. Bagels
If you love bagels, you should invest in a bread machine just for them. Bread machine bagels are so much softer and chewier than the ones you buy from the store. Plus, you can add all of your favorite toppings to make them just the way you like them.
20. Bread Machine Monkey Bread
This isn’t the monkey bread you’re probably used to eating. That sweet, sticky mess is delicious, and I love it. However, this monkey bread is just as good. It’s pure buttery deliciousness, and it’s unbelievably tasty. Imagine the softest, warmest, most buttery dinner roll you’ve ever eaten. This monkey bread is better. You can easily adjust this recipe to make the traditional cinnamon and sugar variety, but I urge you to try it as-is. You won’t be disappointed.
21. Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Whether you eat this plain, slathered in butter, toasted, or made into French toast, it’s a yummy treat you won’t soon forget. It’s also light and airy, so it won’t fill you up and make you feel bloated like many breads do. It’s one of my favorite homemade breads to eat for breakfast.
22. Bread Machine Dinner Rolls
These yeasty, buttery rolls are ones I love to dip in mashed potatoes and gravy. However, they’re pretty versatile. You can also use them as hamburger or slider buns. Best of all, they require only the most basic of ingredients, and you can experience that wonderful homemade flavor without all the problematic kneading and mixing.
23. Bread Machine Breadsticks
Another favorite use I have for my breadmaker is making these delicious, almost-just-like-Olive-Garden breadsticks. Their texture is exquisite, and they have a strong garlicky flavor that makes you not want to stop eating them. If you’ve ever had Cole’s frozen breadsticks, that’s what they remind me of; only these are a little chewier.
24. Blueberry Bread
This warm, buttery bread puts blueberry muffins to shame! (And I love blueberry muffins, so that should tell you how good this is.) As the bread bakes, the blueberries get soft and melty, infusing the whole loaf of bread with the berries’ fresh, mildly sweet flavor. In terms of fruity bread, this one is easily one of my favorites.
25. Bread Machine Pumpkin Bread
This bread is dense, cinnamony, slightly crumbly, and has the most lovely orange color. It’s so easy to make, too. Prep time takes less than 10 minutes, and the bread cooks in less than 2 hours. I like to throw some chopped walnuts into mine, but that’s entirely optional. It’s pretty tasty without them.
26. Chocolate Chip Brioche
Brioche rolls are great on their own. Once you stuff them full of chocolate chips, though, they’re superb. The sugary sweetness of the bread perfectly complements the richness of the chocolate, and the sparkling sugar on top adds an extra layer of beauty and tastiness. Don’t be surprised if these become a new brunch staple.
27. Rosemary Garlic Focaccia Bread
Rosemary, garlic powder, garlic cloves, oregano, parsley, and parmesan: If that’s not a recipe for perfection, then I’m not sure what is. This bread smells fantastic, and it tastes even better. Serve it with soups, salads, or pasta. It goes well with practically anything.
28. Herb Bread Machine Rolls
These rolls are herby, earthy, and garlicky, and your whole house will smell amazing when you cook them. They take a little bit of time to make – over 3 hours – so they aren’t rolls you want to make for everyday dinners. However, if you’re cooking for a special occasion, these are a must-have.
29. Potato Rolls
These rolls, too, take quite some time to fix (over 4 hours), but as the recipe truthfully claims, they are “the quintessential dinner roll.” I usually save these for holiday feasts, and I never get to bring any home. Every single roll gets devoured, and people are always asking for more. If you’re looking for a dinner roll that everyone around the table will love, Amish potato rolls are the best bet you have of finding it.
30. Garlic Cheese Pull-Apart Rolls
This gooey, cheesy bread is like monkey bread; only it’s made with garlic, rosemary, and plenty of cheese. Call it the savory cousin to monkey bread, and it’s every bit as good as the sweet version we all know and love. Click on a star to rate it!
